Clara Zimm has released her debut EP, called ‘Back to Reality now’. Born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA, her sound brings pop and R&B elements to the table with old Hollywood class and modern flair to fit her own voice and world. Her style could be described as “soulful with an edge”, and this is certainly something she captures and balances with her debut EP, ‘Back to Reality now’. Thematically, the EP tells the story of the cycle of love within our own fantasy worlds. We meet, we love, we end…there is always a beginning and an ending, and it will always continue with someone new. It’s a concept project that deals with the theme of fantasy vs. reality: It’s easier to create and live in your own head rather than dealing with the truth, but eventually, we must come “back to reality.” Backed by a tapestry of rich, smooth instrumentation that also contains dark, nocturnal undertones, ‘Back to Reality now’ presents a potent blend of elements that make the EP a layered listen.

‘Back to Reality now’ contains a set of tracks that grab the listener’s attention for their silky atmospherics that also blend elements of haunting sonics. With Zimm’s sultry, dynamic vocals and focused songwriting, these tracks are taken to new heights, with the likes of “Hollywood Romance” making for a hit-worthy cut, and emotive songs like “Fading” resonating with a nocturnal beauty. “It was a movie, I loved you/Back to Reality now” is an expansive closer that puts Zimm’s range on display atop layered instrumentation moored by a grooving, rich rhythm section.
